Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS) was created by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The system is often abbreviated MCMIS. The MCMIS system contains a database that includes a large number of facts related to the trucking industry. The system keeps track of the crash records, inspection reports, and other safety related information.
The MCMIS system changed at the end of 2014. The new policy was issued by the FMCSA and changes the way roadside inspection violations are recorded. Now the MCMIS system will contain data that a citation was dismissed or resulting in a fine of not guilty. This means that the system will show all possible citations, whether or not the trucking corporation or driver was convicted.
